Choose the value that best describes the type of assessment.

  • practice. A practice assessment helps learners reinforce knowledge or skills through repetition and application without necessarily being formally graded.
  • diagnostic. A diagnostic assessment identifies a learner’s prior knowledge, strengths, and learning gaps before or at the start of instruction.
  • formative. A formative assessment monitors learning progress and provides feedback during the learning process.
  • summative. A summative assessment evaluates what a learner has achieved at the end of a lesson, unit, course, or learning period.
  • quiz. A quiz is a short assessment that checks understanding of a limited topic or recently covered material.
  • exam. An exam is a formal assessment that evaluates knowledge, skills, or competence over a larger body of content.
  • survey. A survey collects learners’ opinions, experiences, preferences, or self-reported information.
  • portfolio. A portfolio assessment evaluates a collection of learner work that demonstrates progress, achievement, or competence over time.
  • other. The other type is used for assessments that do not clearly fit any of the predefined categories.
